I attended a Level 1 & 2 Estill Vocal Workshop in July. The course was great. It was well structured and practical, and difficult enough to be a challenge. I came away with a lot of exercises that I want to work on with my voice. I worry at times that I get overly tired when I sing and the focus on the "most comfortable vocal effort" was very useful to me. I was also glad to have set time aside to work on the craft of singing. It is a skill and at times I focus more on the artistry, as I'm getting ready for a performance, but getting back to the basics of producing a good sound without strain is important.
I really enjoyed listening to my classmates sing and hearing the ways in which their voices could be improved. Everyone there could sing well, but even a good voice can be better. I'm looking forward to trying out some of the exercises and techniques with the singers I work with.
