Cozy Reads

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

My phone keeps reminding me that this is the first time in five years that I'm not spending my weeks rehearsing a show. I was supposed to be directing Cinderella, but sadly that show has been cancelled. I miss rehearsals and was very happy to be asked to direct three new scripts for Tokyo International Players (TIP) upcoming Cozy Reads.

TIP Cozy Reads Online is a play reading festival aimed at providing playwrights within our community and abroad the opportunity to share their work. Bringing us together to enjoy a cozy, creative experience. The event will feature the reading of seven original short plays by local and international playwrights Jessie Berman, Armelle Lajus, Alex Ohannessian, Alex Page, and Carlos Quiapo. Each evening will showcase different plays performed by Tokyo-based actors and will be followed with a Q&A session with the artists and the audience members on zoom.

At the minute I am working on analyzing the scripts and casting and hopefully I'll get to start the read through this week. Zoom is not my favourite rehearsal platform, but happy to go with it as it is giving me the opportunity to be creative.

When: Saturday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 29th, 2021 at 6:30pm JST Where: Online via Zoom. Participants will be emailed a link to the performance.

Tickets: ¥1500 for one night, ¥2500 for both nights available now from the box office.
